Before today's game with Barnsley, the Royals presented four Academy players with awards, while 13 new players were also introduced to the Madejski Stadium crowd.
The 2008/9 Maurice Evans award to an outstanding scholar was shared by Irish youth international winger Gary Frewen and under 18s captain Clovis Kamdjo.
The 2008/9 Maurice Edelston Memorial trophy, awarded to an outstanding schoolboy, went to Jordan Obita, who has been playing in our under 16s despite still qualifying for the under 15s. He has been with Reading since age seven.
The Steve Death Memorial Shield for 2008/9, awarded to an emerging goalkeeper, went to Grant Smith of our under 15s. Grant has been at Reading since the age of eight, and in fact joined as an outfield player before his natural goalkeeping ability came to the fore three years ago.
Before the game 13 new scholars were on the pitch, and they will all join us full time in the summer:
Nicholas Arnold, Lawson D'Ath, John Goddard, Kynan Isaac, Charlie Losasso, Nicholas Lyskov, Angus MacDonald, Trevor Mutero, David Nwaogu, Frankie Raymond, Gozie Ugwu, David Murphy and Carl McHugh.
We will bring you photographs from the presentations next week.
